It makes me happy that you’ve stopped to see some of my art pieces today. Fortunately for me, I live in Wisconsin, one of our most beautiful states. As an avid gardener, nature inspires me every day.

I love to paint all types of things, from flora and fauna in my backyard, to wildlife on land and in the sea, geological strata, animals in the Arctic and our fantastic universe. My interests are many, and I paint the things that inspire me and make me happy. My trademark? Art that usually has some sparkle!

A few years ago, my daughter asked me if I ever saw a teaching tutorial about paint-pouring techniques and sent me a link. I had taken classes and painted watercolor pieces for about twenty years and was searching for something new. I love the softness of watercolor, but I needed a new challenge.

“I was hooked by that very first video and have watched and learned from dozens of artists from around the world. Looking for a new creative outlet? I’m here to tell you that fluid art is fantastic! Since that first day, I have taken the time to regularly follow my favorite artists and explore new teachers to keep me inspired and challenged.”

After school, I married, had children, and worked outside the home most of my life. I have been retired for the last seventeen years. I have always loved art but never really thought I was particularly artistic. I was always painting the walls, decorating the house, buying interesting art and rearranging everything. A friend of mine suggested that maybe I was more creative than I thought!

In 1989, I took a Bob Ross class which really inspired me (I still have that painting), but I was working and caring for my elderly family, so I didn’t really have time to explore further. But in 1998, another friend suggested I take a class from a wonderful and talented watercolorist, Joy Moon, from Oshkosh, WI. Those class experiences were the beginning of my real love of painting.

All types of art interest me, but I’m not the gifted drawer who paints every detail they see. You know, the artists whose work looks like a photograph. I don’t have that gift. There are so many wonderful artists like this that I felt I really didn’t have anything new or innovative to contribute – until I was introduced to fluid art.

This media has given me new energy and creativity! My challenge has been to internalize this new information and create my own style of art. I paint on all canvas sizes, using acrylics, watercolor, inks, beads, sculptured pastes, resin and more. I also craft hand-painted tiles and coasters on fluid mediums. Painting all types of organic nature-driven art on fluid backgrounds is my favorite thing to do.

It is my hope and prayer that I will never be too old to explore new avenues of creative endeavors, wherever that takes me. Fluid art has given retirement new meaning for me, and I hope you are living life to the fullest as well. My friend, I know from personal experience that life can be very challenging, but let’s be determined to live, love and enjoy each day we are given with passion!
